This is the incredible story of the surprise package of the Euro 2016 football tournament. Wales had never been in a major championship since 1958 and their brilliant winning streak in the qualifying campaign ensured they would go to France and play with the big boys. Nobody expected them to do well but what they did during the tournament made them heroes back home in Wales. The story in this documentary starts back in the dark days of 2011/12 when the sudden death of Wales' manager Gary Speed stunned the nation. Results then went against them and they plummeted down to 117th in the FIFA rankings. During the Euro qualifiers something seemed to click for the players and they went on an amazing run. The rest as they say is history. There are interviews with most of the players and the management with Wales as they look back on each game in the tournament and it also shows the magnificent support by the Welsh fans who played their part in lifting the team into achieving what they did. If you're a football fan you will love this story of the underdog doing well.

The tank girls of Oorai Academy are back and have to once again save their school from being closed by having to fight against a professional university tank team. Oorai's friends from rival teams they have defeated decide to join up with them for this great battle.
This is an excellent follow up to the brilliant anime series. The tank battles and strategies are given more time to develop than the series thus making the cat and mouse duel more exciting to watch. The movie also has way more ridiculous tank physics that breaks the laws of physics like a roller-coaster scene that takes place. If you're a tank fanatic then you also get to see new tanks being introduced such as the massive 600MM "Karl-Gerรคt". The plot may be weak but it's the action scenes that's the main focus of the movie and it definitely does not disappoint. Girls Und Panzer der Film is definitely one of the best and most enjoyable anime movie I have ever seen with it's fun cast of characters and longer and thrilling tank battle scenes.

An epic Chinese action movie which charts the rise of General Qi Jiguang, a famous soldier and hero in Chinese culture. The movie is set during during the 16th Century during the Wokou pirate raids by the Japanese on the Ming Dynasty's coast as Ming soldiers attempt to fight them back. General Qi takes command of the soldiers and trains them into a disciplined unit in order to take on the Japanese pirates.
Even though the movie slows down during the middle, the action scenes are fantastic and well choreographed. They are bloody, brutal and very exciting. Many fans of Sammo Hung will be disappointed with this movie because the real star is Wenzhuo Zhao. Sammo may not have that big a role in this movie but when he does appear on screen he shines. To be honest I've never heard of Qi Jiguang so this serves as a great introduction for audiences to a man that galvanised Chinese forces against foreign invaders. There have been many complaints that the Western soundtrack doesan't fit in with the movie but I didn't see anything wrong with it at all. All in all, it was a very enjoyable Chinese action/war movie.

This is a surreal coming of age story of a 15 year old Australian girl who finds herself in a strange world full of weird and wonderful characters after falling asleep. It's beautifully shot with a very faithful recreation of 70's fashion and home decor. But sadly it falls flat with a distinct lack of narrative tension and confusing fantasy element which adds nothing to the movie. Despite the very accurate recreation of the physical world of the 70's, much of the dialogue feels very out of place as it's a bit modern. Many will love this movie as it's a different coming of age story to the norm but I wasn't too enamoured with it.

A miniscule European state, the Duchy of Grand Fenwick, sees a way out of bankruptcy by declaring war on the US (to be followed by a quick surrender, and rehabilitative aid from the generous victor). An invasion force, with 12th century chainmail and crossbows, is thereupon dispatched to New York. But by mistake, the commander captures the most powerful bomb ever, along with its inventor and his beautiful daughter, and brings them back to Grand Fenwick.
Peter Sellers is excellent in this movie. He plays three roles: Gloriana XII, the old reigning Duchess; Baron Mountjoy, the crafty prime minister; and Tully Bascomb, the inept army commander. The plot pokes fun at the wrangling of international politics and nuclear arms proliferation in a money-making scheme by the world's smallest country that goes horribly and laughably wrong. This satire leaves nobody unscathed - the Russians, Americans, British, Cinese and French all get jabbed. The action is fast-paced without getting too slapstick. It's a clever, amusing movie that runs a little long but is nevertheless guaranteed to make you have a fun time watching it.

A man murders his wife and dumps her body on a train, then takes refuge in a sleepy small town. A young boy witnesses the murder but keeps it a secret. The man and the boy wind up in the same boarding house, sharing close quarters, and trying to cover-up their unsettling secrets.
A tense, creepy, well written and acted movie based on a radio series. A tightly edited and suspenseful movie that doesn't try to fool the audience about who's guilty of the crime. The movie's somewhat uneventful beginning with a sharp turn on the rail and a man who can tell what time it is without a watch with the mysterious Dr. Valonius seems a bit slow but it ties all the loose ends together at the end of the story.

A handful of gangsters steal a treasure of gold bars but attract the attention of a monster living in the mine shaft. The beast pursues the thieves to their cabin hideaway and begins to murder them one by one.
I don't usually mind a slow movie but this one is just plain dull. It's padded with some of the most mind-numbing conversations imaginable. These people will talk about anything and everything if it means extending the running time. I know the budget for the movie was low but the monster who is only shown near the end is laughable. The acting is generally wooden. This is a real bore to sit through and the pay off at the end is disappointing. Avoid.

This is a truly superb Victorian drama starring husband and wife team Stewart Granger and Jean Simmons. Granger plays Stephen Lowry, a man who has murdered his wife and gotten away with it; Simmons plays his maid, Lily, who knows he did it. There are so many twists and turns that you'll never guess what is going to happen next. The acting is wonderful, as is the atmosphere, which captures not only the danger in certain scenes but the whole ambiance of Victorian London. Jean Simmons to my mind has always been underrated. She does an excellent job here as the quietly wily Lily. All in all an excellent movie that deserves much wider recognition than it actually enjoys.

Two of the greatest British horror actors in Peter Cushing and Christopher Lee team up together once more but for Amicus this time round and not Hammer. Cushing's character is possessed by a skull supposedly of The Marquis De Sade and despite repeated warnings to get rid of it he doesn't and over time gradually becomes insane. Supporting Cushing and Lee amongst others are Patrick Wymark and Michael Gough. Under the direction of Freddie Francis, this is a little seen horror movie which builds up to a good climax. This movie might not be the best that Cushing and Lee have been in together but it is still enjoyable.

Handgun is an obscure little rape and revenge thriller that has more weight than many other movie in the genre and actually tries to make some points outside of it. Kathleen Sullivan is a young woman who moves from Boston to Dallas. While there, she meets a man and starts seeing him; but shortly thereafter, the relationship turns sour when she refuses her advances, and he rapes her at gunpoint. She gets over the initial shock by getting angry and later buying herself a nice big gun and learning how to use it, all with the intention of hunting down and killing the man who raped her...
If you're expecting this to be similar to I Spit On Your Style in violence then you're in for a surprise. It's not as graphic, sleazy or nasty. The story points out America's obsession with guns throughout the country's history. The movie boils down to a good conclusion, despite the fact that it's obvious it was going to turn out that way but it does pull an interesting little twist out at the end which is decent. Overall, I'm not surprised that this movie isn't well known but it's well worth tracking down.

This movie finds Lorenzo Lamas cast as a LAPD detective who is having some incredibly realistic dreams involving him in an ancient setting participating in a duel. When he gets assigned to a robbery/homicide where the sword of Alexander The Great is stolen those dreams take on an even greater clarity.
A rather slow-moving movie and not much helped by the tentative acting of Lamas who seems unsure of himself here. Oddly there is little action. There is some worthwhile swordplay about halfway through, though it's a bit stagey for my taste. The big climax is a bust as the villain played by Michael Champion was apparently uncomfortable with extended swordplay sequences. It's a watchable enough movie but it's forgettable.
