A mercenary is hired by the FBI to track down a powerful recluse criminal, a woman is also trying to track him down for her own personal vendetta.
This Michael Winner movie is another one of those that hired famous names from various countries in order to sell the pictures in those places. It starts out pretty well...actually with a bang but then needlessly slows down to a crawl until it picks up again around halfway into the story. The movie has a terrific cast, some great locations in Antigua and St Lucia but the script needed to have a lot of work on it. Some sections of the movie is incredibly dull but thankfully there are some nice set pieces to keep the viewer's interest. James Coburn takes the lead role alongside Sophia Loren and OJ Simpson. In the end, it's a below average b-movie as it goes on for too long, has an uneven pace to it and the cast look somewhat bored with it all.

A group of Vietnam vets are sent to Southeast Asia to destroy drug-smuggling operations in the Golden Triangle. When they get there, they find that many of the drug gangs are run by other Vietnam vets.
Dean Mitchell is the poor man's Rambo who along with his Vietnam friends try to put an end to the drugs trade in South East Asia. If you can put aside the crappy acting and suspend your disbelief, you might enjoy this brainless actioner. You can enjoy such sights as an armoured ice cream vans, a kamikaze aeroplane and a souped up motorbike with machine guns and rocket launcher in this movie with some other twists just to spice things up further. It's a bad 80's movie make no mistake about it but I'm sure there'll be some people that will love this kind of stuff.

Starting in late May 1944, during the German retreat on the Eastern Front, Captain Stransky orders Sergeant Steiner to blow up a railway tunnel to prevent Russian forces from using it. Steiner’s platoon fails in its mission by coming up against a Russian tank. Steiner then takes a furlough to Paris just as the Allies launch their invasion of Normandy.
This is the unofficial sequel to Sam Peckinpah’s great WWII drama Cross of Iron, which was released two years earlier. It has a great cast with Richard Burton and Robert Mitchum taking part and it covers an interesting part of history, but the production values are not that good and the story is a bit all over the place, never really knowing what it wants to be. The action sequences when they do take place are the only bright spots in the movie. If this movie interests you, you might want to give it a try, but it probably won't end up being your favorite war movie. The pacing is a little off, and it doesn't try very hard to be suspenseful. A shame as it could have been a great movie.

A tough young girl lives with her aging grandfather near a cove on the coast of Cornwall. She supports herself and him by gathering seaweed to sell as fertiliser. She is made fun of by one family especially the young son and she despises them as they did not help her parents when they drowned in the sea.
A pleasant coming of age family drama set amongst the rugged coastline of Cornwall. The main character of Mally is a likable enough young girl who is quite wild looking with her long black hair and scruffy clothes. The story is of intolerance and hatred and how that is broken down when a new tragedy threatens to strike the community until Mally saves the day. There's a great cast involved which includes Donald Pleasance, Arthur English and Peter Vaughan. You'll even get to see future Birds of a Feather stars Pauline Quirke and Linda Robson in a very small cameo but the star of the show is Veronica Quilligan who is fantastic as Mally. The location shooting in Cornwall is beautiful to see. This is a difficult movie to obtain but it is well worth seeking it out as I really enjoyed it.

When Scotland Yard finds themselves up against a brick wall in tracking down a vicious gang of thieves and bank robbers, they call in Layton, a loner from MI5 to work his way into the gang and help bring them down.
An interesting crime drama about a gang of thieves running their racket like an ordinary business with employees, a secretary, respectable looking, suited money men, and the promise of a pension. The movie spends much of it's time on a single heist involving a jewellery store and a magnificently brazen break-in. The plot is a little bit similar to a Peter Sellers comedy and that's because both had the same producer and director. The only difference is this one plays it straight and the other is strictly for laughs. The cast perform well with William Sylvester playing the lead as the MI5 man torn between his duties and having fallen for one of the gang in the form of the beautiful Mai Zetterling. In the end, this is a solid 70 minutes of stylish early 60's Brit-noir and worth checking out.

The vicar of a small rural community knows he is dying by his doctor and this makes him reconsider his life so far and what he can still do to help the community.
A fantastic movie about making the most of one's life on this world. The story is beautifully done against the backdrop of village life in 1950's England, with a vicar faced with choosing between that which is expected of him and that which his heart and his faith demand. The characters in the village and the twists and turns of the tale make this a movie well worth watching. The town of Gilchester and its cathedral is in fact Beverley in East Riding, Yorkshire. Robert Donat is superb in what was his last leading role. The story might be depressing to some as there is no miraculous ending that there's been a mistake in the vicar's prognosis by the doctor. A very enjoyable tale.

Two aspiring songwriters finally manage to sell a tune by claiming that it was composed by a reclusive musical genius. When the tune hits the top of the charts, they find themselves having to produce the “real” composer.
A truly dreadful comedy. The story line about two music composers who hit upon the idea of playing music backwards, hoping it will prove to be a commercial success is frankly daft. The songs featured are lifeless and the dialogue is tedious. The two leads in George Cole and Terence Morgan are ill suited for their roles and are frankly quite dull. The only bright spot belongs to the ever reliable Kathleen Harrison. A total waste of time and devoid of any laughs.

A young man falls in love with a beautiful woman being chased by sinister masked figures at night. He tries to track her down, and learns she’s being held captive by his father and colleagues who believe she’s a vampire.
A very odd but enjoyable movie by director Jean Rollin. It's a hypnotic tale which cleverly mixes elements of science fiction, vampirism and immortality. The story has a very scientific approach to vampirism, but things gradually become more complicated, and the revelation of what these people who just so happen to feast on blood if they so choose is definitely a strange one, and pretty original. The movie is not as explicitly erotic as Rollin's later works but still uses nudity as a teasing element. It's poetic and surreal with very mysterious characters inhabiting the story. The characters that stand out the most are obviously the sexy female French twins. You have to laugh when they are knocked down a flight of marble stairs in a scene - one of the twins overdoes it a bit and pushes herself by hand to the bottom of the stairs! It looks very unconvincing and ridiculous. Overall, this is a fascinating movie. Flawed, yes, abstract, definitely so, but never boring, dull, or pretentious. Worth a watch.

On a night of a terrible storm, an unidentified, glowing object crashes from the sky on the Hayes farm and with it comes a horrible curse for the Hayes family.
This great horror movie has many good reasons for you to watch it: gooey puss infused vegetables, deadly chickens, killer dogs, dangerous ooze, Claude Akins as a religious nut, shitty water, rotting apples and the full transformation of people into evil monsters are just some of the highlights on display. The acting is fine with Wil Wheaton (before he got his job on the USS Enterprise) and his younger sister Amy performing together for the first time. The standout however is Claude Akins who is a nasty piece of work as the devoutly religious family man who enjoys hitting Wil Wheaton's character across the face several times during the movie. The special effects though at times rather ropey do impress when it comes to people turning into gooey creatures. An enjoyable horror movie on the whole.

Charlie Bubbles, a writer, up from the working class of Manchester, who in the course of becoming prematurely rich and famous, has mislaid a writer’s basic tool – the capacity to feel and to respond. Now he must visit his estranged wife and son, whom he has set up on a cottage outside his native city.
This was was Albert Finney's one and only shot at directing a movie. I'm not quite sure why Finney only directed once in his career but perhaps this movie was a personal project for him or the fact that it fared poorly at the box office? It's a great little movie that perfectly captures what it feels like to be profoundly depressed without being consciously aware of it. Finney gives a very strong performance and the vibrant 21-year-old Liza Minnelli is excellent, as well, quite wistful and charming, in her first adult role. The script by Shelagh Delaney is good as well. Appearing alongside Finney and Minnelli are Diana Coupland, Yootha Joyce, Peter Sallis and even Dr Who companion Wendy Padbury. The movie is not perfect but it is always fascinating and imaginative.

A woman is viciously slashed to death in her apartment and the only witness to the crime is the young daughter who was hiding away in a cupboard. The police start an investigation headed by Inspector Wong. Wong discovers the truth about the murder and is captured by the killer who mercilessly tortures him. It's a race against time for the rest of the police force to find Wong before he is murdered too.
This is a fairly good but very obscure HK movie with a start that's been done possibly as a tribute to Dario Argento just to get the pace and intensity going. Unfortunately things then slow down where it changes into a police procedural drama which is a shame and the touches of humour added look really out of place. There is hardly any gore apart from the opening scene. The acting in this movie isn't great, not to say that it was bad, but nothing really sticks out. The most interesting performance comes from the woman that plays the killer. Overall, it's an interesting watch and I liked it well enough, but it just didn't ever excel above the level of average.

A deeply-disturbed priest goes on a murderous night-time rampage across America’s highways
This is a road-rage thriller layered in religious overtones and endless amounts of stupid dialogue which was apparently based on a real-life incident. It's a fair to middling little thriller with passable performances from the cast. There's plenty of action with the murderous priest cruising the highways looking for his next kill. The cast has a sexy female lead in Darlanne Fluegel with James Russ and Billy Drago giving her adequate backup. It might not be a great movie but it's still watchable.

An adventurer travels through Asia and Africa seeking the treasure of Ali Baba.
A terrible poor man's Indiana Jones style adventure by Roger Corman which is sadly lacking in any kind of style and offers a lifeless performance by the bland Jameson Parker as the hero Luke looking for Ali Baba's treasure. The best thing about this production is the sets in which Luke and his motley crew overcome death traps and natural obstacles in order to obtain the cache of jewels, pearls and crystals. You might laugh but the door to the cave in which the treasure is held is opened by saying "Open Sesame". I'm not kidding here! Thank God it's only lasted for 73 mins. A wretch of a movie.

A successful London advertising-exec hires a beautiful Hungarian girl to pose for some modeling shots, little realising that she has overheard an assassination plot and is now being hunted by some dangerous killers.
This exciting action movie is like an extended big budget episode production of The Saint series that Roger Moore had the leading role. It also has all the innuendo and chases of a Bond movie as well. Moore was at the peak of his powers here just before moving on to playing 007. He looks to be having tremendous fun as his character here. The movie is a nonstop, brilliant caper that never lets up! Another Bond regular in Bernard Lee even turns up as a villain. The location filming around Hertfordshire and Woburn Abbey is nice to see. All in all, a wonderful transitional movie that bridges the gap between The Saint and 007 era for Roger Moore. Recommended for Roger Moore fans.
