An innocent discovery of a well-preserved mummified Emperor from 200 BC China unearths a 2000 year old nightmare - a secret that should have remained buried.
This is a terrible movie financed between China and Australia. A crappy mix between Tomb Raider and Indiana Jones. It's full of cliches, predictability and muddled, convoluted storytelling. I can't tell you which is worse - the script, CGI or the acting. For the life of me I can't fathom why Kelsey Grammer signed onto this. Bingbing Li is awful as the woman searching for her lost brother. There's really nothing I can tell you which is good here. I urge you not to watch this travesty of a movie.

A pretty standard actioner about a logger who vows to protect his family against a drugs gang that has stashed it's dope on his property out in the snowy Canadian wilderness. Jason Momoa does a decent job in the leading role. This movie never out stays it's welcome even if some character development is questionable. Fight scenes look good as do some of the gruesome ways in which characters meet their demise. Momoa is not a superhero here. He bleeds and takes a beating just like the rest of us. Garret Dillahunt plays the lead bad guy and it's apparent to all he's loving it too. He's menacing, evil, a right nasty piece of work. As long as you switch your brain off and go with the flow, you'll enjoy this movie.

A great sequel that manages to retain the feel and charm of the original and further expands on it in many ways. Like in any good sequel everything is a bit bigger (some times literally). It's funnier, more action-packed, and the stakes are higher. Also the characters have the same great chemistry as before which results in some very funny and moving moments. Much like the original it perhaps is not among the greatest of Marvel movies, but it has it's own unique charm! Paul Rudd as Ant-Man evolves himself as a hero but it's Evangeline Lilly as Wasp that stole the show for myself. All in all, this movie is full of action, fun moments and character development and if you loved the original then you'll love this too.

Jason Statham takes on a gigantic 75 foot prehistoric shark in this thrilling movie. According to what I've read, the theatrical version isn't what was originally planned and there were more gory deaths supposed to happen but the filmmakers wanted to get the teen audience onboard to see this movie so they re-cut it. It's been a while since there has been a decent shark movie and this one certainly hits the mark. What you'll notice as well is that this movie is very obviously made to grab the Chinese market. The set pieces between Statham and The Meg were cool and exciting with a number of red herrings thrown in when the characters think they've killed the shark but what do you know another Meg pops up. The movie doesn't try to hide what it is, but rather embraces the absurdity of the premise and goes full throttle to becoming the Summer's most satisfying popcorn feature with a lot of tongue in cheek humour. I had a lot of fun watching this movie.

Smugglers disguised as Navy Personnel are bringing French Liqueurs into the country. Unfortunately, they decided to drop them off in a nature reserve watched over by Lady Flavia Queensway. Concerned about her beloved bird population being in danger from the transgressors, she informs Customs and Excise of the events. They send Detective Kenyon to check it out. This, in turn, leads them to a more important smuggling ring who are about to bring in a large volume of drugs. Kenyon sets out on their trail, which takes him to the south of France and closer to one of the suspects than he would like.
Admirably tense and exciting, this movie comes across as an engrossing and suspenseful thriller. The cast is solid and everybody is superb in their roles. Nigel Patrick is good in the lead role as dogged customs detective Kenyon ably supported by Jack Warner who a year later in 1955 would hit the big time with the long running police TV drama Dixon of Dock Green. Theodore Bikel has an air of menace about him as Max who is smuggling the drugs into the UK. There is some light comedy to proceedings right at the beginning and at the end but mostly this is a serious movie and a good thriller at that too. Definitely worth a watch.

An early vehicle for Peter Sellers as the Chef Petty Officer of a mothballed ship HMS Berkeley whose crew has been running a laundering service for 2 years until a calamitous Lieutenant who has been making his own rockets with disastrous results is made in charge.
The late 50's/early 60's was the time in which comedy movies about the military service were made a lot in the UK and this is one example of that genre. It's an amusing farce in which the wily crew led by Sellers try to pull a fast one on their new commanding officer. The tone of this movie feels like one of the early Carry-On's. The jokes come thick and fast and the situation comedy is hilarious. Peter Sellers is probably the main reason for watching this movie but David Tomlinson is also good as the buffoon in charge of the Berkeley. I wouldn't say this is a memorable comedy but it is funny and if you're after a laugh or two you can't go wrong with it.

Fiona gets a letter from her 88 year old aunt Martha, who's lived in Paris for decades but now cries out for help. Fiona does not hesitate, says goodbye to her Canadian village in the snowy mountains, and off she goes. When she gets to Paris, her aunt Martha is not home, forcing Fiona onto the streets and into all sorts if (mis)adventures.
This is quite a bizarre comedy movie and some of the stuff that happens to Fiona is really absurd but the best thing for the viewer to do is to go along with it and as the story goes on you'll laugh at ridiculousness of it all. The two main stars in Fiona Gordon and Dominique Abel also co-directed, co-produced and co-wrote the movie. They use a physical and visual kind of humour that the French comedian Jacques Tati did a long time ago. I didn't think I was going to like it at first but it grew on me and I did laugh out loud several times. Naturally the views of Paris during the day and night is stunning to see. I'm sure this movie will bring a smile to your face.

This is a brilliant satire on what would happen in the future if stupid people ran the world. The movie tells the story of two people who take part in a top-secret military human hibernation experiment, only to awaken 500 years later where everything is dumbed down and laziness runs rampant. The scary thing about this movie is what's shown in it is starting to come true. Dumb people are definitely breeding far quicker than intelligent ones and reality TV stars have more respect than actual scientists and doctors. Fox tried to bury this movie as it did not want to offend the corporate whores of the world. I found the movie very funny but it was also troubling as well. I guess director Mike Judge had an idea of how our future was shaping up to be. If you haven't seen this movie yet, by all means do so and heed it as a warning.

Whilst on holiday in Italy with his auntie, Tim Brett finds she's been murdered where they were supposed to meet. He believes some sort of peculiar conspiracy behind the murder of his rich aunt and he goes about his way to prove it back in London, except he gets his apartment broken into, strange messages and cackling laughter mysteriously appear on his tape recorder, and someone appears to have sent him a warning letter written on his own paper with his own typewriter. The police don't believe him as he's a recovering drug addict.
An enjoyable thriller about a man slowly losing his grip on reality. Are these things really happening to him or is he back on the hard stuff and all of this is a drug induced nightmare? The story cleverly builds an atmosphere of justifiable paranoia with Brett visibly feeling trapped and scared and because of his behaviour nobody believes him. David Hemmings carries the entire movie. He's great as Tim Brett, a regular guy who gets in over his head and slowly begins to lose his mind. There are appearances from Yootha Joyce, Patricia Hayes and Arthur Lowe. The movie gets more exciting as it goes along and it all boils down to a good ending that provides a nice twist. I was glad I saw this rather obscure movie.

A romcom about an overachieving blind man, and his under-appreciated brother, that both fall for the same woman. The movie is very darkly comedic, in a clever way. Kudos to writer/director Sophie Goodhart for creating a story with a difference in that something good happens to two guilty, self-loathing characters. Robbie, the blind brother of the title makes a wonderfully heroic antagonist, whose capability and determination the viewer slowly comes to dislike more and more as the story unfolds. All 3 leads are great especially Jenny Rose. The movie itself is short, engaging, maybe a tiny bit predictable but ultimately leaves you with a smile.

A well done Western horror about a tribe of cave dwelling cannibalistic savages who kidnap a couple of people from a small town. A rescue expedition of 4 men which includes the town's Sheriff and his Deputy go after the kidnappers. The first half of the movie is a great character drama as it follows the group of 4 for a few day and nights as they travel to where the savages are living. Some viewers might have a problem with the pacing in the first half as not that much takes place and it is a bit slow but gore hounds will enjoy the second half where the horror and action element really takes off. The men are unprepared for the level of brutal violence that befalls them. Kurt Russell gives a very gritty and convincing performance as the Sheriff who wants nothing more than the safety of his town and is willing to do anything to protect it. Arthur O'Dwyer is a cowboy who has a serious leg injury but still goes into this expedition, because for him the stakes are personal with his wife kidnapped. All in all, this is a very good movie, with an interesting premise and a nice twist on the Western genre.

Based on Meera Syal's novel who also wrote the script as well, this is a great coming of age story about a young Asian girl Meena Kumar living in the West Midlands during the 70's who becomes friends with the local bad girl Anita and her gang called The Wenches. It deals with racism, education, growing up and family. It accurately depicts the attitude at the time towards Asians living in the UK. The movie is funny and has got some cracking witty lines. Chandeep Uppal is very likable as Meena with her thick Brummie accent and gives an excellent performance. Familiar faces to British audiences such as Sanjeev Bhasgar, Mark Williams and Kathy Burke also take part. It's a charming and engaging movie with characters you take a shine to.
