This adaptation of Joe Orton's play is about a three-way affair between an elderly brother and sister with Mr. Sloane who charms them both with his good looks and apparently bisexual leanings. It's certainly not the usual fare one expected in the 70's especially in the UK anyway. It's controversial and has gained quite a cult status because of it's black comedy. It didn't really do anything for me - perhaps it was too weird for my liking though I can't fault the acting of the three main leads.

This is a simplistic movie set in post apocalyptic Britain in which the world population outgrew the food supply and a decline in drilling for oil produced the downfall of the human race. The story follows one man living alone on the wilderness where his peaceful life is interrupted one day by a mother and daughter who seek food and shelter.
I enjoyed this Irish made movie. There is not much dialogue in this movie but it's not required as the palpable tension between the desperate characters living on the edge is always there making for compelling viewing. Who can you trust in this dog eat dog world? The story is rather grim and the acting between the three leads is great. It's a very different kind of movie, very un-Hollywood, a subtle yet powerful reminder of what the future might look like if we continue to ignore the inevitable decline of the world's oil supplies in the near future.

This ludricous Japanese revenge tale has a plot so out there it has to be seen to be believed! The story is about a doctor whose wife is raped and murdered by a lunatic. Left for dead, the doctor recovers and eventually buys a drug addict woman in order to train her to become his tool for revenge, a trained assassin to kill the man who wronged him and took away his wife.
It's a typical low budget blood, sleaze and guts movie - full of nudity and gore. Asami in the lead role will never get an award for her acting, in fact you could describe it as wooden but she's been in some outrageous movies over the years such as Machine Girl which has gotten her noticed all over the world. This isn't her best movie by a long shot. The story is not exciting and even when the so-called revenge plan takes place nears the climax it's poorly executed. You'll enjoy it if you're a fan of Asami as she's naked and blood drenched a lot of the time but otherwise I wouldn't bother.

Set 2 years after the conclusion of the 2nd season, Inspector Akane Tsunemori heads to the country of SEAUn after terrorists from there strike Japan. The memory of one captured terrorist reveals that Shinya Kogami, Tsunemori's former enforcer who went rogue and disappeared three years ago is now one of SEAUn's rebel leaders. Tsunemori insists of going to SEAUn to help the government who is testing the Sybil system there and to apprehend Kogami.
This is a fantastic feature movie that continues the greatness that is Psycho-Pass. It's got everything you enjoyed from the anime series in action, intrigue and excitement. The visuals are great as usual plus there's more violence and blood. It's good to see what finally happened to Kogami after he disappeared at the end of Season 1. Fans of Psycho-Pass will be delighted with this movie - I know I was!

The 2nd Assassination Classroom which carries on 6 months later from the first movie is a step down as it's basically a rehash of the same plot involving Class E having to kill their beloved octopus teacher because if they don't - the Earth will be blown up. The only difference is the viewer gets the teacher's backstory in that he isn't an alien at all but rather a DNA lab experiment. It takes the mystery away from the tentacled being. At nearly 2 hours long, the story drags especially during the middle section (the first movie had exactly the same problem) and I didn't find the movie to be quite so fun as before. The school pupils are likable enough and the cast perform well in their roles. Former K-Pop star Kang Jiyoung is smoking hot as the foreign language teacher Irina Jelevic. The climax makes up for the majority of the movie's failures with a fitting end to the story. Overall I was rather disappointed.

Although touted in some places as a Jackie Chan movie, it isn't but he does have a blink or you'll miss it cameo right at the start. This movie is like a lot of his movies - slapstick comedy and superb action scenes. The plot revolves around some stolen diamonds that some people are after. The movie is basically split into 2 parts: the plot and comedy for the first hour which is fine but for most it's the last 30 mins which will peak your interest. It's just one long action sequence which climaxes at a warehouse in which Carina Lau and her friends square off against the baddies. For that alone it's worth seeing the movie as it's a superb set piece. This movie isn't memorable by a long shot and won't even be in most HK action movie fan's Top 10 but it's still worth checking out.

aka Ring of Death. A well made classic tale of an underdog being trained in the martial arts then being set loose on the people that humiliated him. This storyline whilst familiar to many martial arts fan is a cut above the rest thanks to the performances of Cliff Lok and Hwang Jang Lee. It is helped also by the great fight choreography by Corey Yuen, Mang Hoi and Hsu Hsia. What a shame that the final fight between Lok and Lee is short. The plot has several twists and turns to keep it interesting along the way and Lok's portrayal as the underdog makes him endearing to the viewer.

This movie sees a former navy sub captain take on a journey to recover some lost Nazi gold for a private backer. The best part of this movie is definitely the performance from Jude Law. Even though his accent is a little weird I thought his character was really interesting. He had a good arc in the movie and you believed his character. There are one or two interesting supporting characters but the majority weren't important though or likable. The script has some good tension and dramatic dialogue but it lacked a bit of character development and humour which would have helped. The style of the submarine was great and really felt claustrophobic. A decent enough movie in the end.

David Lean proves again that he is the master of epic cinema by telling an intimate story against a backdrop of a richly observed India. The location photography is a jewel, the costumes and settings perfectly suited to the E.M. Forster story which is set in the 1920s and focuses on two women, Adela Quested and Mrs. Moore who travels from England to India to visit Ronny Heaslop, Moore's son and Adela's fiancรฉ. The movie is extremely well acted, with everyone involved on top form. For me Judy Davis and James Fox were two who really stood out to me. The scenery is well shot and you really do see the character of the country and see the hustle and bustle of the Indian way of life. Overall, this is a wonderful movie and typical of the brilliance of David Lean.

Sandra Bya is married with two children. She's been on sick leave for depression. Her co-workers vote to get her fired rather than not collect their bonuses. Her friend convinces their boss Dumont to make another vote, this time a secret vote. They're convinced that their supervisor Jean-Marc is pressuring them to vote her out. She is reluctant to beg for her job. She has two days and one night to meet her co-workers one on one, and convince them to help.
Marion Cotillard is brilliant as Sandra and the concept is so simple. It's fascinating to see the spectrum of reactions to her pleas. The wide array of personalities is intriguingly human. Cotillard plays down her depressed character and shows some real depths. This is a small simple story that is done very well. Pleasantly surprised by this movie.

A comedy movie revolving around a dying industry in the UK during the early 60's - that of transporting goods via canal barge. Harry H Corbett plays Hemel Pike, a charmer of the canals who has a girl at every stop. It's no coincidence that the writers behind this movie Galton & Simpson also wrote the sitcom Steptoe & Son that Corbett was starring at this time. The plot is about one of Corbett's women who falls pregnant and the fiery father played by Hugh Griffith who is determined to find out who did the deed. There are a number of British comedy greats in this movie such as Ronnie Barker as Corbett's dim witted cousin, Eric Sykes and Derek Nimmo in a cameo role. It's a fantastic nostalgic piece about a way of life that was soon gone. A nice and pleasant enough comedy showing the lovely locations around the Grand Union Canal. Perfect for a rainy afternoon watch.

A great coming of age drama about a shy girl coming to work as a waitress at a seaside hotel in North Wales during the early 60's. Although the story is set in Wales, it was actually filmed on the Isle of Man and on the grounds of the now demolished Grand Hotel in Ramsey. Elizabeth Edmonds plays the leading role of the introverted and awkward teen Annie who gets to go on a journey of self discovery. There's a wonderful cast of characters including a loudmouth waitress, a bartender who goes sleepwalking in the nude and a Scottish chef. Over the year that Annie works at the hotel, she changes into a completely different girl that started the job. I didn't know what to expect from this but I really enjoyed it and it's a movie worth seeking out.
