aka Gremloids. One of the better low budget Star Wars parodies from the 80's. A villain known as Lord Buckethead along with his Jawa like sidekicks make a mistake and land on Earth trying to look for stolen radio transmissions in a droid which is in the hands of Princess Serena. A pest control man and a female mechanic are dragged into the fray and have to stop the aliens.
This is a very funny sci-fi comedy with some decent special effects. It is similar somewhat in humour to what Monty Python would be doing. There's a wacky chase in a supermarket involving flying carts and a funeral for a cow in a church that was shot by the aliens! The funniest character in the movie has to be Lord Buckethead. All his scenes are hilarious. The people behind this movie have to be congratulated for making something so great with so little money. Star Wars fans should definitely check this out.

After hating the Lego movie, I thought I'd give this a go just in case it might amuse me. It didn't! It's a predictable, unfunny movie with no substance. The dialogue and jokes are bad. There's no storyline as such, just an excuse for the scriptwriters to put some obscure references to make themselves look clever. Whatever plot you do have is nonsensical. The kids will obviously love it and that's fine because it's targeted for them. I really regret having had to watch this garbage. I know next time to avoid any Lego movie going.

This is a brilliant sequel that dare I say is better than the first. Everything about it is fantastic from the action scenes, great performances and there's hardly any dull moments in it. What I love most is there's a possibility of a third movie which I hope does happen in the future. Director Chad Stahelski does what worked the first time around and tries to expand this world of assassins and continental hotels. The plot is just straightforward and simple, which the film just uses to put every fight sequence in play. It would sometimes feel like a video game seeing John Wick fight against countless bad guys in every set piece in a creative way and on easy mode, which makes him look unstoppable. Keanu Reeves is excellent as John Wick. This movie is an exciting joy ride for action fans and I highly recommend it.

The first 50 Shades movie was terrible but this one is even more atrocious. I did go into the movie with an open mind but after only 10 mins I knew this was going to be truly awful. There is simply nothing good to say about this movie as the plot, hammy acting and the so-called chemistry between the two leads are diabolical. I've seen some crappy movies in my time and this is one of them.

Yet another dull generic horror movie about a bunch of teens heading out to SXSW festival but being diverted to a farmhouse after helping out a little girl that has lost her grandfather. From there all hell breaks loose. The movie plays on countless tropes, but comes off as mediocre and redundant and otherwise annoying as characters attempt to gain control of the situation. The acting is stiff and wooden across the board. The dialogue sounds as if it were written by a 12-year-old. The only thing more prevalent in the script than plot holes, loose ends, and red herrings is the question mark at the end of every other sentence. Unless you're desperate to see something, I wouldn't bother with this one.

This movie sounded quite promising on paper. The storyline follows Laura who accepts a friend request on Facebook from another girl Marina at the same college as her as she feels sorry for the poor girl. She doesn't have any friends online. It is quickly apparent that Marina is a bit strange and is practically stalking Laura. Laura decides to unfriend Marina and that's when thing's take a turn for the worse. It's here that the movie turns a bit flat and is pretty much like any other run of the mill horror. A few predictable jumps here and there and thats about it. Liesl Ahlers is perfectly cast as 'the creepy girl' but we have all seen this movie before and it offers nothing fresh at all.

A former African child soldier Jamal now living in London with his adopted mother witnesses a fatal stabbing one night. The attacker and his friend keep putting pressure on him not to say anything. Jamal finds it difficult to keep his violent streak down because of this.
An interesting Brit indie movie. It is tagged as a thriller but it isn't one at all. More of a drama than a thriller. It has a nice performance by lead Roger Nsengiyumva especially when paired with his teen girlfriend, their chemistry has a certain allure and is well filmed, the drama and comedy invoked in the scenes between these two characters create a likability in the movie that is undeniable. There are some violent scenes but these are few and far between. I was expecting tension to ramp up when the attacker starts targeting Jamal's home but this fails to materialise. The ending I thought seemed too rushed. It's still a good character piece by debutant director Rob Brown but it could and should've been a lot better than what it was. Worth taking a look.

Yet another British sexploitation comedy movie from the early 70's. Four sexy young foreign girls come to the UK to work and get intimate with their respective employers! It's a below average comedy which is more like a Z-list Carry On movie. The natural attraction to watching this movie is of course the gorgeous young leads led by Gabrielle Drake. There isn't a story as such - it's just a sorry excuse for the ladies to get totally naked which they do! There are cameos from John Le Mesurier (quite shocked to see him appear in this kind of movie) and future Coronation Street star Johnny Briggs. Depends if you're into this kind of comedy whether you'll like it or not. It's very dated and the slapstick humour is poor.

The Apology King revolves around a small company whose founder's job is to help folks make sincere apologies when they make a stupid and embarrassing mistake. It's a great surreal comedy that will definitely make you laugh. The movie is cut into segments highlighting 6 successful cases that Yuzuru has done and the way that he instructs each client to apologise properly. Each segment is entertaining though the 5th one about a film company insulting a small nation called Montan went on for far too long and wasn't that amusing. Even the real life incident involving Erika Sawajiri is mocked in the movie. Mao Inoue and Sadao Abe are the main leads and make for a good pairing though the supporting cast is also brilliant in helping the story move along. And I guarantee you'll never forget this catchphrase "Hairy Armpits, Statue Of Liberty"!!

This excellent dark comedy was the debut of director Bong Joon-ho (of Memories of Murder fame). Dog lovers will be shocked at the treatment of the canines in this movie so be aware of that before watching it. For those that don't know - dogs are cooked and eaten in South Korea. The storyline is about a man who is so annoyed at yapping dogs in his apartment block that he takes action by kidnapping and then killing them but during one incident he is seen by 2 women on the rooftop of another building. There are many twists and turns which makes this movie so good. The performances of the two leads (Lee Sung-jae and Bae Doona) are superb and the comedy is very funny. This movie is hailed as one of the best from South Korea and you can see why. It is awesome. Don't miss out on this one.

On a beautiful island somewhere in Japan, the cycle of love, life and death takes place as shown through the eyes of 2 teenagers. One has a dying mother and the other has seen his parents splitting up. How they deal with these situations is what this movie is all about. This movie won't be to everybody's taste - it's a slow paced storyline and some shots by the director that linger on something such as waves crashing or trees blowing in the wind for a while. At 2 hours long, it does drag a little at times but overall I enjoyed the interesting storyline, great performances by the cast and the gorgeous cinematography.

Peter Sellers stars in this lively crime comedy caper about an Australian gang that is masquerading as policemen and stealing from other crime mobs. This movie was written by none other than Galton & Simpson (who were behind the excellent Steptoe & Son). Sellers is supported by a wonderful cast that includes John Le Mesurier, Bernard Cribbins and Lionel Jeffries. The humour on show here by and large comes courtesy of the unlikely alliance between London's policemen and the crime elements who both want to nail the Aussie gang. With a sharp witty script and a cast to die for, this Brit comedy is well worth seeking out.

This movie starts out a very different movie to the one it finishes as. It starts out trying to be overly stylish with slow-motion shots, flashbacks, over the top characters and music blaring over the top of scenes. All things you'd commonly see in Quentin Tarantino movies, the only difference is that he has the ability to pull them off. So the movie wasn't off to a great start! Thankfully it gives up on this after 30 mins and settles down to a fairly fun story about a nutcase in the desert who goes around hunting people with a sniper rifle and a gas mask. Ashley Bell as the beautiful heroine is great and so is Pat Healy as the killer. At 78 mins long, this movie zips along but unfortunately there just isn't time to develop the storyline. It could have done with another 15 mins or so. As another cat and mouse game movie it's OK. It's not exciting enough for my liking.

I was drawn to this low budget horror movie as it's set in my neck of the woods - Snowdonia. It's a tale about this nasty murderer known as The Wedlock Killer and a late night radio station where it seems that messages from the dead are coming through the airwaves. It isn't too bad of a movie, there's nothing I can say that really stands out at all. It's a case of seen it all before with some unoriginal jump scares and bloody killings. The cast are fine in their roles apart from Polish actress Joanna Ignaczewska who I thought was terrible. In the end, this is one of those movie that once you've seen it you'll completely forget about it. One to watch perhaps if you've got nothing better to see.

A great little known Brit indie comedy drama about 2 con artist sisters who assume the role of renowned poets The Wilding Sisters and join a poetry retreat somewhere in the Black Mountains of Wales. Once there they start to learn some important lessons in life.
I didn't know what to expect from this low budgeter but I was pleasantly surprised. The chemistry between the 2 sisters played by Dolly Wells and Alice Lowe is superb. They really bounce off each other and the supporting characters are great. I cannot fault any of their performances. The cinematography is also fantastic with some funny dialogue. It was quite a rewarding watch in the end and I'm glad I saw it.
